The evening of December 1, 2008 was a very special time. Bright ‘stars’ nearing the Moon, are actually planets: Jupiter and Venus. Venus is the more brilliant one.
You may view the nearness of Venus and Jupiter to the Moon within the next evening or two. Venus will continue to climb, higher and higher, but the near-conjunction should be beautiful. I had noticed that the crescent Moon was near Jupiter and Venus about a week ago. It was a sight to behold. Last night, as I saw the nearing of the conjunction of the three planets at about 7:45 p.m., I called friends to tell them to go outside and see the beauty, as I traveled on the highway. Backdropped by the constellation, Sagittarius, the positions of the two planets and the cresent Moon formed a ‘smiley’ face, viewed from certain parts of the world. In the New River Valley, there was a conjunction that displayed the 2-degree nearness between the three planets. Clouds prevented some from relishing the beautifulness. David Grimes, EverythingNRV.com, captured an image during the rare event, which will not happen again for many years. Go outside, during early evenings, and enjoy the continuing nearness of the Moon, Jupiter, and Venus. Earthly enjoyment of celestial bodies . . . it’s a good opportunity to enjoy visionary delights.
