Area Thanksgiving Closings

Listed below are the Thanksgiving Holiday closings for local and county offices throughout the New River Valley.

Blacksburg

All Town of Blacksburg Administrative Offices and the Blacksburg Community Center will be closed Thursday, November 27 & Friday, November 28, in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Blacksburg Aquatic Center will close at 2:45 p.m. to the public on Wednesday, November 26 and will reopen Friday, November 28 at 9 a.m.

Blacksburg Transit will operate on Break Service Saturday, November 22 – Saturday, November 29, with no service on Thursday, November 27.

There will be no refuse and recycling pickup in the NE quadrant on Thursday, November 27. Make up service will be on Saturday November 29. Please have all materials at the curb by 7 a.m.

Christiansburg

The Town of Christiansburg offices will be closed only on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.

Floyd County

Town and county offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.

Giles County

All town and county offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.

Montgomery County

The following offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and all day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and 28: County Administrative offices, Health Department, Clerk of Circuit Court, Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library and Social Services.

The following will be closed all day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-28: Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and General District Court.

The Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority’s Administrative offices will be open regular hours on Wednesday, Nov. 26, but will be closed on Nov. 27 and 28.

Montgomery Regional Landfill, 314 Scalehouse Drive, Christiansburg, will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, but will be open regular hours from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28. All consolidated recycling and waste collection sites will be closed on Nov. 27, but will be open regular hours from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28.

Pulaski County

Town and county offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.

City of Radford

All city offices will be open all day on Wednesday, Nov. 26. They will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and Nov. 28.

SCC Accepts Allegheny Power Rate Settlement

RICHMOND — The State Corporation Commission (SCC) has determined that an agreement to settle a rate increase request by Allegheny Power in Virginia is a “fair and reasonable” resolution of the issues, consistent with the laws and facts governing the case, and therefore should be accepted, according to an announcement made Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008.
