NRV Wakes Up To Snow Print E-mail
David Grimes

Residents in the New River Valley woke up to the areas first measurable snowfall, forcing some schools to close and creating slick roads for morning commuters.

Schools in Giles County and the City of Radford, which originally announced a two-hour delay, closed for the day, while Pulaski County was on a one-hour delay. Schools in Montgomery and Floyd County were not affected by this morning’s weather.

According to VDOT, the secondary roads are extremely slick at this time and crews are in the process of scraping and putting down chemicals.

Area police departments are reporting numerous minor accidents throughout the region.

Snow showers are expected to continue throughout the morning.
