Montgomery Museum Happenings Print E-mail
by Larry Middleton
The Montgomery Museum on S. Pepper St. in Christiansburg, is currently featuring artwork by museum members. Photographs, canvasses, carved figurines . . . many choices enhance the perspectives of visitors. Ms. Donna Capozzi Speaks, Director, said, “well, our museum is one of the best-kept secrets! So many local folks don't know that we are here, but many travelers visit. We hold festivals, and have promotional notices, but we are often overlooked.”

On Friday afternoon, two out-of-state families were visiting, enjoying the well-displayed works. One visitor was interested in purchasing a unique work of art that was on display by a museum member.

“We have a lot of wonderful local artisans; our annual museum-member display is just one way to share the diversity of interests and works of our members,” Capozzi Speaks said.

Several holiday events that include activities for all ages, are highly anticipated. An 'open-house reception,' cookie-making seminars for children, gingerbread-house displays, competitions of several sorts . . . this holiday season will be more special than ever.

The Montgomery Museum has rooms filled with antique furniture and other items of interest from the locale. In two-month intervals, various themes are featured, from foods of the area to woodworks.

Specifics about the holiday events will be posted here, at EverythingNRV.com, next week. A couple of hints: keep December 6 and 13 open to engage in fun-filled activities. Christiansburg Mayor Richard Ballengee will be a judge for the gingerbread-house competition.

The friendly staff of the Montgomery Museum offers tours and an intricate knowledge-base that should not be overlooked by visitors and locals alike.
