Good news out of the New River Valley, as the Moog Components Group announced Tuesday morning that it has started expanding its Blacksburg operations.

A 72,550-square-foot building will be built on a site, which is currently being graded, next to its existing Blacksburg facility at 1213 N. Main Street.

The new structure will be done sometime mid 2009 and it will house some of the operations currently located in the existing building on Main Street.

The company currently has 50 openings.

The New River Valley Moog operations, part of East Aurora, N.Y.,-based Moog Inc., are focused on design and manufacturing of motion control and electronic components used in industrial, commercial, medical, marine, aerospace and defense applications.

Moog Components Group employs 1,100 in the New River Valley at its three Blacksburg locations, as well as its Christiansburg and Galax locations.
