Competing against representatives from more than 100 national research and regional comprehensive universities at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference in Georgia, an event considered the pinnacle of experience for business students nationwide, Radford University student Andrew Pierce came out on top.
Andrew Pierce, a senior marketing and economics major from Dublin and treasurer of the RU PBL chapter, took home first place in the Marketing Analysis and Decision Making category at the national PBL conference, competing against 36 students. He also placed high in the Marketing Concepts division, ranking ninth out of 30 contestants. “Just to be in the top 10 in the national competition is an honor, but to be the very best in a category that is a passion of mine, is a very high honor,” Pierce said. “It also gives our growing club some more ground to grow.” Pierce joined Bretny Khamphavong in representing RU at the national conference. Both qualified to compete at the national level by placing either first or second in the spring State Leadership Conference in Richmond. It was during that competition that Pierce placed second in the Marketing Analysis and Decision Making category and second in Marketing Concepts along with team member Kenny Smith. Khamphavong placed second in Computer Applications and second in Word Processing. Overall, the RU PBL chapter picked up 11 awards during the state conference.
