Aching feet and smiles from the memorable times . . . that's what many folks woke up to the past Saturday morning after a night of flat-footin' and two-steppin' in Floyd, on Friday night.
At the Floyd Country Store, the Buck Mountain Band closed operations with a late encore. Hoops and hollering resonated throughout the building as folks danced - often with virtual strangers. The downtown sidewalks were packed with 'pick-up' bands that offered many instrumental and traditional song renditions of historical favorites. 'Jam' sessions pleased all, including the musicians, according to the 'with-it' facial expressions and body language they displayed. It was simply a joy to see folks having a good time and hearing songs that, while traditional in this area, were new to many. Great musicians, kind-mannered folks on the crowded sidewalks . . . a Summer night of pleasure!
