EverythingNRV
Special Olympics Virginia Area Nine will be hosting a wine tasting, featuring foods from popular local restaurants, and a silent auction at Lane Stadium’s South End Zone Club at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Sept 17. A Taste of Inspiration, presented by Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, Prosperity Mortgage, StellarOne and DudleyCreative will benefit Special Olympics in the New River Valley and surrounding areas.

This fundraising event will provide participants with a business-casual evening of fun and festivities, while showcasing the many opportunities Special Olympics provides in our community.

The South End Zone Club provides a great vista for the event. Guests will sample specialty dishes from various local restaurants and taste different selections from local wineries, and wines from around the globe, hosted by Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg.

Participating restaurants include Awful Arthur’s, Champs, Zeppoli’s, The Cellar, Texas Roadhouse, Kroger, Backstreets and Our Daily Bread. Along with the opportunity to network and learn more about Special Olympics, guests will be invited to bid on various items donated from area vendors or benefactors. All proceeds will benefit local athletes in their year-round training and competition programs.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.tasteofinspiration.org. For more information about A Taste of Inspiration or about the many opportunities with Special Olympics in our area, contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 951-2918.

Special Olympics is a year-round international program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.  By using sport as a vehicle for social change, Special Olympics Virginia strives to create opportunities for meaningful interaction and self discovery for everyone.  The organization’s goal is to open the heart and mind of every Virginian to the value and ability of persons with intellectual disabilities.  Special Olympics Virginia Inc. is the state program of Special Olympics Incorporated.
