A not guilty verdict was returned Wednesday in Montgomery County Circuit Court against one of the two men accused of shooting into the Blacksburg apartment of Victor “Macho” Harris, a cornerback on the Virginia Tech football team.

Anthony Jobair Lucas was found not guilty of shooting into an occupied dwelling by the jury Wednesday morning.

Lucas, a former Virginia Tech student and former member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, was charged along with Augustus Pajibo Peal following the Nov. 11 incident, which took place at Harris’ Chasewood Downs apartment.

Testimony in court revealed that the intended target was former Virginia Tech football player Justin Harper, who was inside Harris’ apartment at the time of the shooting.

No trial date has been set for Peal, who is also charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling along with numerous other larceny-related charges.

"Not guilty.."

With 'due respect' to any reporter/poster of public information (that is often 'canned'/'pre-written')I'm so tired of crime stories being the predominant, full-horizontal 'headline' of the 'news'...how about a balanced front page. No, crime doesn't always pay, let alone, get attention from many folks. It's everywhere, written and posted everywhere, on public-record, and, while important, is NOT the 'story of the day', ALWAYS. Balance of newsworthy headlines would be nice. Shall someone just make a 'crime-post' site? Not many people would read or subsribe, I think. Rather, one suffers, via the predominat crime posts. I don't NEED to see some 'crimester's photos that are posted....mug-shots are often sickening. What's the point? Are we supposed to be afraid if see them @the 7-Eleven?
