Local Republicans To Hold Annual Dinner Friday Night Print E-mail
David Grimes
Some of the top names in the GOP will be in Blacksburg Friday evening, as the Montgomery County Republicans hold their 10th annual Obenshain-Dalton Dinner at The Inn at Virginia Tech.

The annual gala, which is the primary fundraiser for the local party, will start at 6 p.m. with a Silent Auction and reception; dinner will be served at 7 p.m.; and the program and speakers will get underway at around 7:30 p.m.

According to Patty Manthe, Chair for the Montgomery County Republicans, the GOP notables that will be speaking include Attorney General Bob McDonnell (the presumptive GOP nominee for Governor in 2009), former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore (now the GOP candidate for Senate) and the President of the National Federation of Republican Women, Shirley Sadler.

The featured speaker Friday night will be former Virginia Senator and Governor George Allen.

On the local front, several local GOP notables who will be in attendance include Delegate Dave Nutter, Senator Ralph Smith, and Commonwealth's Attorney, Brad Finch.

Manthe did add that although the RSVP deadline of Aug. 15 has past, there are still a few more spaces if someone wishes to attend. The cost of the event is $45 per person or $85 per couple.
