The 76th annual Prices Fork Community Fair will take place this Friday and Saturday and the excitement of this much-anticipated event is running high.
“The entire community is excited about this year’s event,” said Cindy Dowdy, chairman of the fair. “Everyone looks forward to this event as it brings the community and others from around the area together for two days of fun and fellowship.” Activities will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday with the much-awaited posting of the Prices Fork Elementary School teacher lists. From 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., one can try their hand at ever-poplar Bingo games. The Dancer’s Dream will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by the High Grass Band playing Bluegrass Music at 7 p.m. The evening will conclude at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. with Door Prize Drawings. The very popular Pet Show will kick things off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. “We invite everyone to bring their pets out for the show,” said Dowdy. “We will be judging long and short hair dogs, as well as alley, long and short hair cats,” At 2 p.m. there will be a Talent Show, followed by the Baby Contest at 3 p.m and music by Dean Trimble and Friends at 6:30 p.m. Those needing to take a break can once again try their luck at Bingo from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will also be plenty of craft vendors at this year’s event. “Right now we have 20 booths,” noted Dowdy. “They will range from crafts to food.” This year’s event will conclude at 9 p.m., Saturday night with the crowning of Little Mr./Miss Prices Fork. There will be an Exhibit Hall, whill be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. According to Dowdy, citizens can submit items such as farm and garden; candy and baked goods; canned goods; flowers; handicraft and art items to be judge. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. All items to be displayed in the exhibit hall must be turned in between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday evening and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. All proceeds from the Fair go to the Prices Fork Grange, which in turn, support various projects throughout the Prices Fork Community. For more information on any of the events call 552-6610.
