For the first time an event will be hosted by the University encouraging the communities on and off campus to introduce themselves while participating in a festival environment.

Please mark your calendars for Friday, September 5, to attend!

This Inaugural event will take place at the start of the new semester to incorporate welcoming the 9,000 plus new students to the on and off campuscommunities. This is also an opportunity for returning university representatives and the residents of Blacksburg to learn more about each others resources and services.

The event is hosted by UUSA a division of Virginia Tech.  The festival will take over Squires Student Center, Graduate Life Center the Library Plaza, and surrounding areas.  Interactive activities, entertainment, and fun food will be available throughout the day

The event begins at 11 a.m., featuring a variety of businesses set up to introduce products and services, by 2pm the Student Job Fair, Student Organizational Showcase and the VT-Engage Volunteer Fair featuring local Montgomery County non-profit agencies' promoting their contributions to the community while recruiting volunteers for service projects throughout theyear.

Starting at 5 p.m. a family run/walk event will take place memorializing the Wayne Robinson Principles of Community.

From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the student Alumni Associates will hold a Hokie Rally which leads in to the Freshman Student Class of 2010 Kick-off Concert featuring "Slightly Something and the Pat McGee Band" that last until 10 p.m.

To close down the evening, surrounding restaurants' will be filled with patrons and for the non-alcohol late night adventure seekers, enjoy late night programming on campus at the Squires Student Center BreakZone!

There are many opportunities to help with this event.  Volunteers are requested to assist with traffic control, setting up tables, and other small chores.  If you are interested in working please sign up to volunteer through VT survey at:
