According to the Virginia Tech Police Department, a man shot himself in a room off of the Cassell Coliseum arena at 2:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The man, who police have yet to identify, was flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.

The shooting did not pose a threat to the campus community. Police, however, did send out a public e-mail through the college’s alert system to inform students, faculty and staff of the situation.

Police are still investigating the incident and no further details are available at this time. EverythingNRV.com will post further details as they become available.
