Get a jump on the heat today and hit the streets early for Steppin' Out 2008 – the 25th year! Vendors will line parts of Main Street, Jackson Street, College Avenue and Draper Road in Blacksburg beginning at 10 a.m. today for the annual street festival. The festivities will last through 10 p.m. tonight and take another turn tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Over 150 booths will be available for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. Browse the streets for art, crafts and clothing or enjoy a feast provided by various downtown restaurants and independent vendors.

There will also be a vast amount of live music both days at the annual street festival. Presented by DLP Concerts, everyone's musical taste will have its time. From three-part harmonies to swing, funk to Americana, Steppin' Out is sure to be jammin' Friday and Saturday.

In addition to the stages filled with musical entertainment, there will also be demonstrations of Taekwondo, belly dancing,

ballet, theatre, gymnastics, science and ballroom dancing.

Performances will be featured on three stages throughout the street festival:  the Acoustic Stage in the Post Office parking lot, the Main Stage at the intersection of College Road and Draper Avenue, and the Community Stage on the corner of Draper Road and Jackson Street.

The Draper Mile Run will begin at 6:15 tonight, starting at one end of Draper Road and ending inside the festival.

Step on out and enjoy the community event, support your local vendors and have fun!
