The new facility, which is named the Motor Mile Sports Complex, includes a new baseball field and softball field, as well as being able to be used for football, soccer and lacrosse. The field is also the first in Montgomery County to be lighted. “We still have some work to do on the field,” said Mitchell Haugh, Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Director. “We still have to install restrooms, bleachers and outfield fence, along with some other minor items.” The newly lighted field is the first to be built in Montgomery County since 1998 when the Plum Creek Field was constructed. Next summer, Montgomery County will play host to the Dixie AAA 9-10 year-olds and O-Zone District 11-12 year-olds tournaments now that the sports complex has lighting. Photos by David Grimes
