David Grimes

The Blacksburg Police Department is asking for your help in trying to locate a white male who left a pipe bomb with a member of the Blacksburg Rescue Squad on Saturday.

According to Capt. Bruce Bradbery of the Blacksburg Police Department, an unknown male came to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad building, which is located on Progress Street, the man gave the member the item and said he had found it in his garage and did not want it.

Capt. Bradbery described the item as a six-inch PVC pipe, which was closed at both ends, and it contained what appeared to be gunpowder.

The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad was contacted and the item was detonated and has been sent to a state lab to be examined further.

The unknown white male was driving a white car.

The Blacksburg Police are hoping to find the man in order to gain more information as to how he found it and where he resided, in addition to as how it may had found its way into his garage.

Anyone with any information about the pipe bomb is asked to contact the Blacksburg Police Department at (540) 961-1152.
