Montgomery County Grand Jury Indicts 25 Individuals On 53 Charges Print E-mail

A Floyd County man was indicted for his involvement in a fatal vehicle accident and a Christiansburg man was indicted for stealing a ring belonging to a Virginia Tech football coach, as a Montgomery County Grand Jury handed down 53 indictments against 25 individuals Wednesday.

Anthony Edward Adams, 48, of Floyd was indicted on one count each of hit-and-run (personal injury), statutory burglary and grand larceny.

It’s alleged that in the early morning hours of Sept. 7, Adams broke into the Duncan Jeep-Isuzu dealership in Blacksburg, stealing a Jeep Rubicon. He was later involved in an accident at the intersection of North Franklin Street and Cambria Street (near the Christiansburg Recreation Center).

In that accident, it’s alleged that Adams struck a motorcycle operated by Gregory Maurice Jackson, 22, a student at Virginia Tech. Jackson was thrown from his bike and was then run over by another vehicle and later died at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

The Jeep Rubicon was later found parked at the Citgo Station on Route 8 near the I-81 interchange. Adams was also located at a later time.

Also indicted Wednesday was Augustus Pajibo Peal of Christiansburg. Peal was charged with stealing a ring belonging to Virginia Tech football coach Bryan Stinespring between Nov. 1 and Nov. 26, 2007. Peal is also facing numerous other larceny and break-in related charges in Montgomery County, Radford and Roanoke.

In addition, Peal is also awaiting trial for shooting into the residence of Virginia Tech football player Victor “Macho” Harris back on Nov. 11, 2007.

Other indictments handed down Wednesday include:

Michael Timothy Williams of Pembroke was indicted on six counts of obtaining money (more than $200) by false pretenses, five counts of forge check and five counts of uttering a forged check. The alleged offenses took place on Jan. 29 and Feb. 1, 2008.

Patrice Elder Potts of Blacksburg was indicted for credit card theft. The alleged offence took place between March 20 and March 27, 2008.

Raye W. Wiley of Blacksburg was indicted on three counts of obtaining money by false pretences between Jan. 23 and Jan. 26, 2008.

Harland Lain Brown, Jr. of Blacksburg  was indicted on one count of robbery. It’s alleged that Brown stole a Ipod from Suneal Sarna on March 19, 2008.

Matthew Jeremy Holland of McCoy was indicted on one count of robbery. It’s alleged that Holland stole a Ipod from Suneal Sarna on March 19, 2008.

Elon Blaine Horton, III. of Blacksburg  was indicted on one count of robbery. It’s alleged that Horton stole a Ipod from Suneal Sarna on March 19, 2008.

Seth Michael Lederman of Sterling was indicted for two counts of grand larceny. It’s alleged that he stole a ring from Bryan Stinespring between Nov. 1 and Nov. 26, 2007 and a set of golf clubs on Nov. 10, 2007 from Herbert Decker.

Christy Alisa Pruitt-Peters of Blacksburg was indicted on one count of aggravated bad check and three counts of bad checks. The offenses occurred between April 7 and April 28, 2008.

Johnny Eugene Peak was indicted for driving while being declared a habitual offender on May 12, 2008.

Jason Michael Cavanaugh of Blacksburg was indicted for maliciously cause bodily injury. It’s alleged that Cavanaugh stabbed Emmanuel Quimbao on Feb. 4, 2008.

Andrew C. Terry of Blacksburg was indicted for forging a public document on Nov. 10, 2007.

Christopher Allen Oliver of Blacksburg was indicted on two counts of child abuse/neglect. The alleged offense took place on Jan. 9, 2008.
Tanya Vaught Martin of Ripplemead was indicted on two counts uttering a forged check and two counts of forging a check on March 29, 2008.

Vickie Sue Ryan of Pulaski was indicted for prescription fraud. The alleged offence occurred on May 5, 2008.

Robert E. Carver of Dublin was indicted for fraudulent conversion of property on March 3, 2008.

Jason Eric Ross of Philadelphia was indicted for distributing cocaine on Feb. 19, 2008.

William Robert Tucker of Christiansburg was indicted for destruction of property. It’s alleged that Tucker destroyed a lightning protection system belonging to Virginia Tech and valued at more than $1,000 on March 26, 2008.

James M. Graves of Blacksburg was indicted for malicious wounding. The alleged offense took place between Dec. 26 and Dec. 29, 2007.

James McNabb Walton of Blacksburg was indicted for hit-and-run on Feb. 11, 2008.

Justin Ray Miller of Blacksburg was indicted for assault and battery on a law enforcement officer on Dec. 17, 2007.

Bradford Dale Bowles of Christiansburg was indicted for possession of cocaine on Nov. 18, 2007.

Unique Cache Phillips of Blacksburg was indicted on two counts of child abuse/neglect. The alleged offense occurred on Jan. 9, 2008.
