Radford City's Chamber of Commerce held their annual "After 5" event on cordoned-off Main St., on Friday evening.

The famed Embers "beach band" delighted the audience of over 2,000 with memorable hits and favorites.  Radford residents have apparently appreciated the Embers from previous years  at "After 5;" they danced and gave standing-ovations to the group.  The Embers have become an annual mainstay of "After 5." They are loyal to Radford; they have many requests, performing internationally.

Face-painting, bubble-machines, and other children's favorites were on-site; food and drink vendors were "selling out."
Several sponsors placed informational sites, and gave away an array of gifts.

Dean Young, owner of Dean's Body Repair in Radford, said that "My family and friends enjoy this; we meet here for a great

time." Larry Martin, local architect, said he "Always likes to enjoy the Embers, when I can," as he "danced the evening away." Ron Baldwin, local businessman, agreed that the Embers event was "not to be missed!" Several visitors from outlying areas attended, recognizing the event as one of the area's top attractions.

The Frank family, owners of a Main Street business, were happy to see so many "new faces" as well as many friends and acquaintances. "This continues to be a great event for Radford," said Ms. Frank.

Several folks were surprised that the turnout was so large.  One group agreed that if you have great coordination, entertainment, and amenities, the following grows, but this is a record turn-out for Radford.
