Cruisin Christiansburg Sparkles

Christiansburg's downtown sparkled from the metallic of show-cars, during this year's 2nd Cruisin' Christiansburg event. Familiar Bluegrass favorites filled the airwaves, as folks looked for a shady viewpoint.

The 90-degree weather was not a deterrent; hundreds of folks had already viewed the show-cars and trucks as of 3:30. Cruisin' seems to be a favorite venue for families, many of whom brought their toddlers. The show went on until 9 PM with diverse entertainment.

Jim Vanhoozier, Christiansburg Town Councilman, said he was happy to see so many folks attending on such a beautiful day. "I'm surprised at how many folks are traveling from outlying areas; I've seen a bunch of acquaintances that I haven't seen in a while. With the downtown-revitilization almost complete, downtown is really looking pretty. I hope our events keep bringing folks back, and that more folks from other areas will continue to enjoy Christiansburg."

Mr. V is council-elect and doesn't take office until September 1. But it is still great to see three or four elected or appointed officials at these events supporting the efforts with more than just a nod of heads.
