MoveOn.org Activists Make Grass-Roots Effort PDF Print E-mail
Written by Larry Middleton

Horns honked and people waved, as four moveon.org activists picketed on the corner of North Franklin St. and the entrance to Kroger during rush-hour on Wednesday afternoon. They quietly displayed signs that depicted the plight of Americans, blaming gas prices on oil companies and politicians that receive funding from them.

Their goal was to make Americans aware that Presidential candidate McCain had received over $1 million from oil company lobbyists;  would be "four more years (of the same plight)," and that Obama "isn't tied down by the oil industry."

Vehicles filled the pump area of Kroger; perhaps a reminder that people are buying as they can afford to, a little at a time.

One driver said she stopped for $5 of gas when she could, "twice a day, if it has been a good day; I clean houses for a living."

The activists seemed happy with their reception. Leaflets were given to many, with factual information and a listing of the sources. They encouraged folks to visit  moveon.org for more information.

Bravo!

I applaud these fine citizens for taking action to inform the voters of the NRV about John McCain and his ties to the oil industry. We all need to take note of this and vote for Obama in Nov. Good work!!

MoveOn.org efforts
written by citizenK, July 10, 2008
I'm glad to see pro-active, peaceful, awareness efforts by any organization with a cause. It's ironic that MoveOn.org may become "can't move-on; I'm out of gas (.org?)"...as out-of-gas road-calls have plagued the American Automobile Association and local governments, with a 20% rise in requests compared to last year; just the beginning of such plights, in my opinion.
