A tractor-trailer accident on I-81 southbound near the Dublin exit this morning created traffic woes for motorists, including a backup of at least eight miles, throughtout most of the day.
According to Sgt. Michael Conroy of the Virginia State Police, the accident occurred at 8:25 a.m. at the 97.2 mile marker on the southbound side if I-81 near the Dublin exit. Traffic on the interstate had slowed down due to a dog being on the roadway. A tanker-truck, which was being operated by Marvin Bostic of Cedar Bluff, swerved and ran off the left side of the roadway to avoid striking the slowed vehicles. The tanker than hit an embankment and overturned. The tanker was full of fuel and has to be emptied into another tanker before it can be uprighted. According to Sgt. Conroy, no charged were filed against Bostic, who was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
