A Wytheville woman, who wrote worthless checks in Montgomery and Pulaski Counties, as well as in three states, for more than $23,000 is now in custody.
Michelle Lynn Sharitz of Wytheville has been charged thus far with 23 counts of felony bad check, 12 counts of obtaining money by fraud (felony) and two counts of obtaining money by fraud (misdemeanor). It’s unknown at the current time as to how many or what type of charges she is facing in Montgomery and Pulaski counties, as well as in Beckley, WVa. According to Wythe County investigators, Sharitz used various fake names to cash more than $23,000 in checks up and down the New River Valley from Roanoke to Wytheville. In addition, she wrote checks in North Carolina, West Virginia and Virginia. In writing the bad checks, Sharitz used various fake names including: Michelle Lynn Lilly, Michelle Johner, Katherine Rawsom, Lynn Lilley, Michelle Lynn, Michelle Lilly Johner, Michelle Diaz, Michelle Lynn Pack and Michelle Cobb. Sharitz is due back in Wythe County General District Court on July 18, 2008 at 9 a.m.
