Sinkland Farm's Annual Tradition Continues PDF Print E-mail
Larry Middleton

A tradition of the Riner community is gaining momentum, as Sinkland Farm hosted the annual equipment consignment sale Saturday morning.

Nick McNeil and his father Carl McNeil squeezed the highest bids for an array of farm equipment, from attachments to trucks and tractors.

Tens-of-thousands of dollars of equipment were sold.  Dale Teel, a longtime Riner resident, was asked if he was happy with what his items were bringing; Mr. Teel's smiling face preceded his comment that "well, I sold them."

It was all in a day's fun, as Carl McNeil "worked" the bidders, sometimes playfully tipping their hats forward to encourage a "yes" bid.  Nick McNeil enthusiastically hawked the bids, often lifting his arm skyward.

Sinkland Farm has hosted several of these events that seem to be more of a social gathering than a business event.  As Susan Sink quietly observed the group, she said "I'm pleased with the large turn-out."  Old friends and new acquaintances had a good time, buying what they needed at fair prices, while talking about many topics other than farm equipment.

It was a rousing start to a Saturday in the normally serene Riner community.
