The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Virginia State Police, are conducting an investigation into a shooting late Thursday night, that has left one man dead in Check area of the county.
Police are currently looking for the suspect, who is an 18-year-old black male. Details about the suspect are not being released at this time, other than the suspect has fled the area and is armed and dangerous. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Rob Carpentieri, the Floyd County Sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call shortly before midnight on June 5, requesting an amubulance for a man who had been shot at a residence on Floyd Highway (Rt. 221), across from the Virginia Department of Transportation shop in Check. Various sources have identified the victim as Sean Neumann, 39, of Floyd County. Police would not confirm the identity, as the investigation is ongoing. Police would not release any further details surrounding the shooting.
