Montgomery County School Superintendent Tiffany Anderson is once again a finalist for a similar post, this time in Ohio.
This past Wednesday, Anderson was named one of the five finalists for the superintendent’s post with the Cincinnati Public Schools, which has 34,790 students. According to Anderson, she was asked to apply for the position by the Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, a firm that’s conducting the search for the Cincinnati School Board. In mid-May, Anderson was named one of the five finalists for the same position in Memphis, Tenn. Two days after being interviewed, she withdrew her name. In a phone interview with Al Johnson of Ray and Associates, the firm doing the Memphis search, on May 16. Johnson told EverythingNRV that the reason Ms. Anderson gave them about withdrawing was, “her concern about the number of board members up for re-election.” Anderson’s husband has been looking for jobs in several metropolitan areas. Anderson told EverythingNRV by email on May 16, after withdrawing from the Memphis process, " While my husband is interested in a metropolitan area, closer to family if possible, we also feel it’s very important for our entire family to feel any new opportunity is a match for all of us. We enjoy our community here and in exploring another opportunity further, my family did not feel the opportunity available was a match for all of us at this time. As I’ve shared, we have not made any decisions to leave our community. My husband is only exploring and I am supporting my family fully. The continued support from my school board and understanding of my full school community has been tremendous and I do appreciate that very much as we do enjoy many things about our community." Anderson’s contract here in Montgomery County is good through 2010. There is a clause in the contract, which says she could resign at any time she and the board find mutually agreeable.
