A man drowned Friday afternoon at Claytor Lake after suffering some type of medical condition and falling overboard from his boat. 

The name of the victim or where he was from would not be released until all of the family members could be notified.

According to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, they received a call from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at 1:30 p.m. about a drowning in the Allisona section of the lake.

Its reported that the victim, a white male in his mid 50’s, who was operating the boat, fell out the boat after suffering a possible heart attack or some other medical condition.

The victim’s brother, who was a passenger, helped get his brother to shore. The victim died at the scene.

The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are continuing their investigation.
