A Floyd County woman, who was charged with felony embezzlement from the Bank of Floyd, had her charged reduced to a misdemeanor following a plea agreement in Floyd County Circuit Court.

Karen Lee Sutphin, who was a former employee with the Willis Branch of the Bank of Floyd plead no contest as a part of plea agreement. As a result of her plea, the felony embezzlement charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and she was given a 12-month suspended sentence by Circuit Court Judge Ray W. Grubbs.

Sutphin embezzled $2,900 from the bank on August 18, 2006. She  has already paid the full amount back to the bank.
