A Wythe County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge, who also sits in other J&D Courts throughout the New River Valley, is in trouble with the law again.

Michael Keith Blankenship, 43, of Wytheville was charged with a misdemeanor traffic offense of failing to report an accident. It’s alleged that the accident took place last weekend in Powhatan County.

According to the Virginia State Police, witnesses reported that Blankenship ran off the road and hit a telephone box. He than drove back onto the road and went over an embankment and uprooted a tree.

The state police have not said if alcohol was a factor in the Powhatan County accident.

Blankenship was charged with DUI and refusing to take a blood/breath test after Virginia State Trooper Ronnie Collins observed him driving erratically on I-81 in Smyth County on March 1, 2008.

Blankenship is due to appear in Smyth County General District Court at 1 p.m. on May 20 to answer to those two charges.
