Chugga, Chugga; Hayrides And More In Riner PDF Print E-mail
Written by Larry Middleton

Sunshine and smiling faces adorned the pristine landscapes of Riner Saturday. Old friends and new acquaintances made the morning special.

Auburn Baptist Church's spring yard sale offered more than goods for sale.  Hayrides, a petting zoo, children's activities, good food, nice folks...what more could one ask for on a Saturday morning?  Antique Jeeps, State Police and Riner Fire Department vehicles and personnel were accessible to all. The event was held the Rt. 8 building-site of Auburn Baptist, whose members anxiously await the groundbreaking of the new building site.

Auburn H.S. was a nearby site of a more frenzied atmosphere, with hundreds of folks visiting over 75 booths that were rented by sellers.  Proceeds will be distributed via school-related groups, such as Eagle Pride. Adults bought bargain-priced $15 antique cabinets, as children enjoyed experimenting with mechanical operations of antique sewing machines, and other artifacts.

It was a great day to see a unique community come together for charitable efforts, while affording vendors an opportunity to lessen their inventories.  Riner is a rare bastion of lovely landscapes, caring residents, and group-efforts that benefit many.
