A former Floyd County man, who now lives in Christiansburg, entered no contest pleas to two counts of sexual abuse to a minor in Floyd County Circuit Court.

John Patrick Harris was sentenced to 10 years, all suspended, with three years of active probation. He was also placed on supervised probation, ordered to receive a sexual offender evaluation and counseling. Harris must also register as a sexual offender and have no contact with the victims.

According to Floyd County Commonwealth Attorney Stephanie Shortt, the incident took place on October 16 and October 17, 2007 and involved two female victims above the age of 13.

Shortt went on to tell EverythingNRV that the victims in this case were consulted with and agreed to a plea agreement.

“This agreement allows the victims to begin their healing without the additional trauma of testifying in court,” added Shortt.
