Not only did a large crowd of first responders turn out at the Blacksburg McDonalds Wednesday morning for a free breakfast, but McDonalds across the NRV and in the K92 radio station listening area reported large crowds as well.
As a part of a way to honor fire, police or EMS members, Roanoke’s K92 radio station and McDonalds teamed up to offer a free breakfast to those first responders who showed up in uniform.
At the Blacksburg McDonalds, a large contingent of first responders from the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, Blacksburg Fire Department, Blacksburg Rescue Squad, Blacksburg Police Department, Virginia State Police, Virginia Tech Police Department, along with several other departments were found enjoying themselves.
The K92 Morning Thang show, along with DJ’s Danny Meyers and Zack Jackson, broadcasted from inside the Blacksburg McDonalds Wednesday morning.
During the broadcast, listeners were able to call-in or text the broadcast team, and have their thoughts and feelings in regards to the April 16 events at Virginia Tech last year, as well as Wednesday’s activities, heard across the airwaves.
It was reported that a large number of first responders were being fed at locations in Princeton, Roanoke and Lexington.
Also a large number of listeners called in and voiced their support for Virginia Tech and for all the first responders.
The crew said this was their way of showing support for these dedicated first responders, men and women who are volunteers with area fire and rescue squads.
