New Type Of Counterfeit Bills Showing Up In Pulaski PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Grimes

A new type of fake money is showing up and the Pulaski Police Department is warning citizens and merchants to be on the lookout for the counterfeit bills.

According to Pulaski Police Chief Gary Roche, bills with the $5 numerical amount on the bills are being bleached out and replaced with a $100 denomination.

To make the bills even harder to detect, the marking pens that businesses use to check the authenticity of the bills does not work on these new bills being passed. The mark will show the bill is good, even though it may be counterfeit.

Chief Roche added, the portrait in the center of a normal $5 bill is of Abraham Lincoln, and the picture of Benjamin Franklin appears on the $100 bill.

If the counterfeit bills are held up to the light, the faces may appear distorted. This is the only way you can tell the difference in the bills, according to police.

The chief stated that some of the businesses in the area have already received these bills in the last few days.

Two white males and two black males are suspected of passing these bills.

Anyone having information concerning these bills should contact the Pulaski Police Department at (540) 994-8680.

$100 bills
written by citizen, April 06, 2008
Yes, Ben is on the $100 bill. Too many retailers, schools, etc., do not train personnel/students about icons, change-making and other critical data (we must have more calculus; business math and the real-world doesn't matter(?)), regarding safe business practices; many workers have never seen or owned a $100 bill, especiall these days! They're not to be called names; they are unaware. Ole' Ben..One Hundred of the best; AMERICAN DOLLARS.

Am I reading this wrong or is it that only an idiot would not recognize a fake $100 bill with Honest Abe's photo on it?

Ben Franklin is on the $100. Clarification Please.
