| Blacksburg To Hold Meet-The-Candidates Events |

Citizens First for Blacksburg will be sponsoring a series of meet-the-candidates events during a period of five days in April.
The meetings will allow citizens an opportunity to see and listen to candidates in-depth in a format that not only gives candidates time to articulate answers to questions presented in advance by Citizens First and other community organizations. The meetings also allow time for audience members to participate.
“Elections for Blacksburg Town Council will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, so we planned the conversations with candidates to occur during the first part of April when citizens are really beginning to pay attention and think about the election, but not so close to the election that they would not have time to learn more about the candidates after the forum,” said Dianna Richardson.
In addition to Citizens First, other community organizations are contributing questions that reflect the questions that have been asked in the past by stakeholders (both citizens and community groups) who want to understand the functioning of Blacksburg government and improve the community. Citizens First, as part of our mission to have open and transparent government and informed electoral choices.
Listed below are the dates in which each candidate will be available. All the meetings will be held at the new Blacksburg Middle School auditorium. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will be web-cast live on www.everythingnrv.com.
