Montgomery County’s Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the County’s Fiscal Year 2009 budget proposal and advertised real estate tax rate on Thursday, March 27 at 7:15 p.m.

Citizens are invited to comment on the proposed $159.4 million budget and 75 cents per $100 assessed value real estate tax rate at the public hearing to be held at the County Government Center Board Room, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg.

The FY 09 Proposed Budget is available for review at www.MontgomeryCountyVa.gov and at the County Government Center’s Information Desk and County Administrator's Office (2nd floor). In addition, budget copies are available at the Blacksburg Library, 200 Miller St.; Christiansburg Library, 125 Sheltman St.; Meadowbrook Library, 267 Alleghany Springs Road; Blacksburg Community Center, 725 Patrick Henry Dr.; Christiansburg Recreation Center, 1600 N. Franklin St.; Blacksburg Municipal Building, Town Manager's Office, 300 S. Main St.; and the Christiansburg Town Hall, Town Manager's Office, 100 E. Main St.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to adopt the budget and establish the real estate tax rate on
April 14. Fiscal Year 2009 begins July 1 and ends June 30, 2009.
