In a rather lengthy meeting, the Montgomery County School Board spent more than 2 ½ hours behind closed doors to discuss student matters.

Once the regular meeting, which was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., finally got started at around 8:40 p.m. the Board made quick work of several items, while postponing one item in the work session.

The Board recognized the School Resource Officers and DARE Officers, also the elementary school which won state awards were recognized, along with the Seniors of the Month from each of the county high schools.

A work session concerning a Legal Review by the School Board Attorney was postponed.

There was an update on the FY 2008-2009 School Operating Budget. The school system is still waiting for the final figures from the General Assembly; the Special Education Annual Plan was approved, as well as the waiver of Pre-Labor Day Opening.

There was a also a presentation on obtaining state funds for the Energy Performance Contracting and there was also a short update on the Alternative School Transportation.

The school board then ended the evening with another close door meeting.
