Today at 3:00pm, Virginia Tech will be hosting an exhibition baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Hokies. As a result, on-campus traffic will be affected, and parking will be very limited.
Blacksburg Transit: There will be two shuttle routes transporting ticket holders to English Field from 12:00pm - 6:00pm. The main shuttle bus route will pick up on Perry Street, and at Burruss Hall. Passengers will be dropped off on Washington Street near the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute. The Rec Field Parking Lot on Tech Center Drive has been designated for handicapped parking only and a second shuttle will service this area. Parking: The following parking lots will be closed on March 18 from 7:00am to 6:00pm: Stadium Lot - parallel spaces adjacent to the Stadium; Rec Field Lot - reserved for handicapped parking; Smithfield Lot - upper section closed; Track/Soccer Lot - closed; McComas Lot (eastern side of the building) - closed;
A section of Duck Pond Drive, from the intersection of Washington Street to the intersection of Southgate Drive, will be closed to through traffic from approximately 1:15pm to 6:oopm, or at the end of the game. Please use Spring Road during these hours. At 4:30pm Duck Pond Drive will be open only to traffic moving southbound towards Southgate Drive to exit campus. Faculty and staff who use the Vet-Med parking lots or customers of the Vet Hospital will be allowed in only by way of Southgate Drive. Vehicles that have parked in the Vet-Med lot will be allowed out only south to Southgate Drive. Additionally, the section of Washington Street that has been closed due to steam tunnel repairs will temporarily be open from 7:00am March 18th to 7:00am March 19th.
