Two Radford juveniles have been arrested following an incident Saturday night in which three Radford University students were robbed at gunpoint.
According to Lt. R.A. Wilburn of the Radford Department of Police, officers received a call at approximately 9:25 p.m. Saturday night of a report of a robbery in 500 block of Fairfax Street where two black males robbed three male RU students at gunpoint. The three victims were robbed of their wallets and one of the students received a broken nose during the scuffle with the suspects. With the assistance of the Radford University Police Department, one of the suspects, a 16-year-old male from Radford was taken into custody on the RU Campus. He was charged with robbery and use of a Firearm in the commission of a felony and placed in the New River Valley Detention Center. The Radford City Criminal Investigation Bureau responded and continued the investigation. At the scene, investigators recovered a firearm, which was determined to be a BB gun. Following a thorough investigation, another juvenile suspect, a 17-year-old old male from Radford was identified. He was taken into custody and placed in a Roanoke County Detention Center. He had been charged with three (3) counts of armed robbery, four (4) counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, one (1) count of malicious wounding, and three (3) counts of conspiracy to commit a felony. Since the suspects are juveniles, police cannot release their names at this time.
