A good crowd turned out Thursday evening as Pulaski Community Hospital held an Open House to showcase its new Orthopedic Unit.
Guided tours were conducted throughout the evening as the hospital showed off its new orthopedic unit, which featured seven spacious private rooms. One of the rooms in the unit is a luxurious suite, which features a Jacuzzi shower, kitchenette, as well as a spacious area for family members.
In addition, visitors also viewed the orthopedic inpatient unit and the radiology department, which has a new MRI and CT scanner.
During the event, PCH staff also offered free screenings for bone density in women, plus free blood pressure and blood sugar testing.
“This event was held to announce our new orthopedic line and our new orthopedic unit,” said Sandra Turpin, Practice Manager for HCA Physician Services. “We are trying to build our orthopedic line so the community knows we are here for them and we have quality care from our hospital and physicians.”
In addition to displays of the new orthopedic items, both Dr. Yogesh Chand and Dr. James Lovelace, Orthopedic Surgeons at Pulaski Community Hospital were on hand to answer questions and to explain the many new and improved medical devices and procedures.

Jenner was an English physician and pupil of John Hunter, a pioneer in comparative anatomy and morphology. Jenner's invaluable experiments, beginning in 1796 with the vaccination of eight-year-old James Phipps, proved that cowpox provided immunity against smallpox. His discovery was instrumental in ridding many areas of the world of a dread disease and laid the foundations of modern immunology as a science. He invented the term "vaccination"; what is its etymology?
