Ron's Politically Incorrect Cheap Shots Print E-mail
Ron Walton
Cheap Shots............so well named. And an idea that came from a friend of mine in another part of the country. But I did something different than most people these days. I actually called him and asked could I use the name, and clearly defined what I would be using it for. You'd be surprised how many times, in the online world, people steal your branding and your content. It's a fact of doing business online. But, I digress.

When it was mentioned to me recently that I should start a blog of some sort, I really wasn't too keen on the idea. Most blogs I have seen seem to be a self-made shrine to the blogger's existance on this earth. We learn what their dog did today or how their life is going - generally we learn what wonderful things they have to say about themselves. I can't fathom why anyone would even care how my life is going or what our 3 dogs did today. Honestly, when I think about it, I'm not sure I even want people knowing that much about me - I'd prefer to stay in the background and on the quiet and humble side of things regarding my personal life.

Recently, I saw a blog where the person was saying how hard they had to work, how stressful their life was, just a general "feel sorry for me" blog. It struck me as strange that this person said they were overworked, but they sure have time to write that blog. I subscribe to a theory that says in the time people spend complaining, spreading gossip and generally trying to disrupt a business...........they could be out changing their environment. Step away from that part of your life and move in a direction that works for you as opposed to trying to blog your way down a road that is rocky or change a corporate culture. Don't waste time blogging about your life, get out there and find a new career - THEN, blog about that. People everywhere are looking for new careers, maybe you have advice to offer them. That makes good use of a blog.

We have no problem with calling people out, or discussing a topic in a way where "it is what it is". We're not always right, and wouldn't pretend to be. I don't take myself that seriously. We expect it to take a great deal of time before people begin to post comments on the opinion and forum pages. We'll keep trying until we gain your confidence to join us in these discussions.

We hope to start this blog next week. I will be traveling as I so often do, so I have to try and work these in. But I can assure you that I won't send you a blog saying how busy I am or how my life is going. If I am too busy, I won't have time to post anything and if my life is going good or bad, I am smart enough to know that nobody cares. Adding one last thing I would say that if you take yourself so seriously that you can't handle a cheap shot every now and then, go to another website and comment on their pages. You'll have less stress.

Also, please note that we are setting up a special area where you can post our own opinions, thoughts and ideas.
