Six Injured In Blacksburg Accident Print E-mail
David Grimes

Six people were injured following a three-car accident which shut down Route 460 west of the Toms Creek exit for more than two hours Sunday.

According to Captain Bruce Bradbury of the Blacksburg Police Department, officers responded to a reported accident at 4:11 p.m. on Route 460 between Toms Creek Road and North Main Street.

The investigation revealed that a 1994 Honda driven by Dorothy Snider, 67, of Bluefield, WV was heading west on Route 460 when her vehicle first struck a guardrail on the westbound side of the highway. She then crossed the grass median and entered the eastbound lanes of Rt. 460.

A 2008 Chevrolet van, which was operated by Ozgar Ince, 29, of Blacksburg was struck by the Snider vehicle. The van then struck a 2007 Toyota pickup, which was also heading east and being driven by Benjamin Creger, 24, of Blacksburg. The van rolled multiple times before making contact again with the truck. Once all the vehicles came to a stop, the truck came to a rest on top of the van and the Snider car was in the middle of the eastbound lanes of Rt. 460.

Snider, Ince and Creger, along with another adult and two teenage passengers in the Creger vehicle, were transported to Montgomery Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police report that all of the parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts. In addition, police closed the eastbound lanes of Rt. 460 for about two hours while wreckers untangled the vehicles and cleaned the highway.

Snider was charged with failing to maintain proper control of her vehicle and is scheduled to appear in Blacksburg General District Traffic Court on Feb.7, 2008.
