The beautiful, warm summer days yield the need to be outside. What better place to be than partaking in a scenic adventure at Pandapas Pond?
Pandapas Pond is a scenic and popular place to hike, picnic and enjoy nature. And it's located only four miles from Blacksburg. The pond itself is a man-made, 8-acre body of water. It sits on the edge of the eastern continental divide and is the headwaters of Poverty Creek. Pandapas Pond is a day use area only--it is closed to the public from dusk to dawn. Pandapas is a great place to visit in any season. In the summer, the pond provides warm-water fishing (bass and blue gill) and canoeing opportunities. An easy, graveled one-mile trail encircles the pond and makes for great family hiking. Birders, wildlife watchers and wildflower hunters enjoy wandering through a variety of eco-systems including wetlands and forests of pine, hardwoods and rhododendrons.
