Radford University’s College of Science and Technology (CST) has appointed Orion Rogers as Interim Associate Dean for the college beginning August 10.
“Dr. Rogers brings significant academic and administrative experience to this role including Director of the Honors Academy and, most recently, Chair of the Department of Biology,” says CST Interim Dean Joe Chase. “Not only does Dr. Rogers bring a wealth of experience to the position, he also brings the personality and attention to detail to the position that make him a perfect fit for his new role.” “I look forward to assisting Dean Chase and the department chairs with developing new opportunities through articulation agreements and outreach initiatives, such as the Summer Bridge Program, that will recruit exceptional students to Radford,” says Rogers. “I am optimistic about the potential for grant proposals and faculty/student collaborative research that will exploit synergies among the natural sciences, information technology and mathematics. I take great pleasure in watching students grow intellectually as they develop a professional work ethic and experience the rewards of teamwork, diligence, problem solving and discovery,” says Rogers. “I view my new role as a facilitator to bring out the best in everyone, and I am excited to be at the nexus of faculty creativity, student achievement and administrative initiatives,” Rogers says. Rogers began his RU career in 1994 as an assistant professor. Since then, he was promoted to associate professor, full professor and later chair of the biology department. He earned his Ph.D. in physiology with a minor in zoology from North Carolina State University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Wake Forest University.
