The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation will be hosting the 2007 American Canoe Association’s Kayaking Tour on Oct. 23 at the Blacksburg Community Center starting at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, October 23 at the Blacksburg Community Center.
Film Festival starting time: 6pm
Paddling Demo starting time: 8pm

What is it? Blacksburg Parks and Recreation will be hosting the 2007 American Canoe Association’s traveling kayak tour on October 23. Andy Maser (National Geographic Young explorer), and Dave Hoffman from eNRG Kayaking will be on hand to present a film festival/keynote presentation highlighting: whitewater documentaries, river culture and watershed conservation. Following the film festival eNRG Kayaking staff will be conducting a free kayak demo in the Blacksburg Aquatic Center.
Why should I attend? You will have a front row seat as we present award winning film documentaries on premier paddlers…. A chance to build solid paddling fundamentals with certified instructors… An opportunity to try out Liquid Logic Kayaks….Learn more about river conservation efforts from American Whitewater and the American Canoe Association…. Not to mention that all participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win some exciting prizes!!

NRS gear- board shorts, rash guards
Grand Prize- 1 Liquid Logic Kayak to be raffled off once the tour has been completed on November 20th.
Can I bring my own kayak? YES, pleas feel free to bring your own kayaking gear to the paddling demo. Kayaking gear must be thoroughly cleaned before entering the pool.
