The Hokie Bird Wine Festival will take place to celebrate the debut of the 2008 edition of the Hokie wine labels. Château Morrisette joins the New River Valley Chapter for a Hokie Bird Wine Festival.
When: Saturday, July 21, 2007 Where:Château Morrisette Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in scenic Floyd County, VA Cost: $15 per person (Virginia Tech alumni receive a $5.00 discount making the ticket cost $10.00 per person) Time: Noon to 4:00 p.m. We'll have Hokie memorabilia and merchandise, food, wine, live music, crafts, artists, tours and tastings. The 2008 McFarland/Sutphin Memorial Ride began and ended in the back parking lot of Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funds gathered from the ride were given to the families of the two fallen first responders. Local law enforcement, military, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, friends, family and supporters gathered to remember the lives of Derrick McFarland and Eric Sutphin. Riefenstahl was a German filmmaker whose most famous works are documentary propaganda films for the German Nazi Party. Her Triumph of the Will, a documentary of a huge Nazi rally glorifying Hitler, is widely regarded as one of the most effective pieces of propaganda ever produced. After the war, Riefenstahl was classified as a Nazi sympathizer and blacklisted. Later, she became interested in underwater photography and the Nuba tribe in the Sudan.
