Lots happening in the news and surroundings this week, and much to have an opinion about. Remember, feel free to comment on the tidbits or tell us what's on your mind! Things To Do. Our EverythingNRV Calender shows eight (8) great events going on in the area on Saturday. Many activities dot the board for Sunday as well. Simply go into our calender and see what is happening in the New River Valley, then get outdoors and do something! And since you "never know how you look until you get your picture took" EverythingNRV will be covering many of these events and will bring you the stories, pictures and video. On a personal note, I am disappointed there were not more activities and things to do this week noting the great accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King on the 40th anniversary of his death. |

Looks like Obama is starting to feel the heat. As an update to my opinion piece from yesterday I'd like to add something that the Associated Press is reporting today. At a town hall meeting yesterday, Obama was asked if he would consider Al Gore for a post in his administration. |

The fun part of doing an opinion piece is that I am the perfect guy to do it. I already know I'm a jerk. I know I am an a**hole and I already know that I have to be right about everything. A good day for me is when someone wants to try an outwit me in a debate by going personal - there is nowhere to go. I admit my issues. So, on with my tidbits of opinion. |

Thursday was the first day of spring. As the weather becomes warmer, the days become longer and the beauty of spring becomes more evident, the seasonal allergies that plague millions of Americans are poised to strike. |

Today in Southwest Virginia and throughout the nation more options are open to women and being pursued by women than ever before. Since I began representing Southwest Virginia in Congress, the number of women nationwide age 25 and older who have earned college degrees has doubled. |
