Monday, May 12, Mt. Tabor Road will be closed to through traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from the intersection of North Main Street to the ntersection with Lombardi Drive. Traffic will be detoured through the Woodbine Subdivision per the detour plan. Emergency vehicles will be required to use the detour plan. The road is closed so that sanitary sewer and storm drain work can be performed in the street for the Mt. Tabor Village Subdivision project. Last Day to Register - May12th: Saturday, May 17th from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority, (MRSWA), 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg. Get rid of hazardous chemicals in an environmentally safe manner! Items must be registered between May 1st and May 12th. To register a list of items call (540) 961-1851 in Blacksburg, (540) 382-6128 in Christiansburg, or (540) 394-2120 ext. 4085 in Montgomery County. For identifying hazardous waste, labels may include the following terms: corrosives, flammables, toxic materials, oxidizers. Reduce the amount of waste produced by donating latex paint and save money by choosing paint from the donations. Please do not bring oil based paint, it is hazardous and should be brought to the Household Hazardous Waste part of the event. As of April 8, 2008, Blacksburg Town Council eliminated the Motor Vehicle Decals for vehicles garaged in the Town limits replacing it with a Local Vehicle License Tax. Decals will no longer be sold. A bill for the Local Vehicle License Tax will be mailed by May 15, 2008, based on vehicle information on file with Montgomery County and will be due June 15, 2008. |
