Applications for Fuel Assistance through the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) Energy Assistance Program are being accepted through Friday, Nov. 9, at local departments of social services. Families and individuals must apply at their local department of social services.

Halloween is a cherished tradition for many, but the excitement of the night can cause children and motorists to forget to be careful.  As Halloween approaches, AAA Mid-Atlantic reminds parents to be extra cautious if their children will be trick-or-treating on neighborhood streets. 

There's no doubt about it; kids love Halloween. They love dressing up in costumes and collecting loads of candy. But did you know that kids also enjoy participating in other fun, creative activities as well?

Four finalists have been chosen in the search for an artist to design the inaugural work to be placed at the Roanoke Civic Center in fall 2008. The large scale work will commemorate the city's 125th anniversary and its theme of "People. Pride. Promise." and is one of four initial projects commissioned under the City of Roanoke's Public Art Program.
