A Petition for Just and Reasonable Property Assessment was signed by about 50 residents of Pulaski County, mostly from the Claytor Lake community. The group met at McGuire’s Family Campground on Tuesday evening.

A tragic fire struck one of Pulaski’s most recognizable venues early Monday morning. The first arriving fire engine reported heavy smoke and heavy fire from the Pulaski Depot. The Draper, Dublin, Newbern and Fairlawn fire departments were called for mutual aid assistance.

Fire officials are still on the scene at this hour investigating the cause of an early morning fire Monday that destroyed the historic Pulaski Train Station and the Raymond F. Ratcliffe Memorial Museum.

The employment woes related to the New River Valley Volvo plant continue to get worse, as a Salem company may be forced to shutdown at year’s end, causing more than 100 people to lose their jobs.
