It's about 5:30 in the morning, and I am sitting in my living quarters on a drilling rig in South Texas, about 20 miles from the Mexican border. I just finished doing all of my chemical tests, and turning in my morning reports. I am drinking my second cup of coffee, and thinking about what I am going to write for this month's issue of the Christian Online Magazine.

Thirty-three students from Montgomery, Pulaski, Floyd and Giles Counties, along with the City of Radford were among the 44 students who were announced as Outstanding Students in a Curriculum/Subject Area at the recent President’s Awards Ceremony at New River Community College in Dublin.

The Virginia State Police are now investigating the death of Randall Lee Smith, who was found unresponsive in his jail cell Saturday evening, and later died.

Sgt. Michael Conroy of the Virginia State Police told EverythingNRV.com Monday afternoon that the State Police have been asked to conduct the investigation surrounding Smith’s death at the New River Valley Regional Jail.

 
U.S. Cellular & Roanoke Boys & Girls Club Members Make Mother's Day Cards PDF Print E-mail

May 11 marked the 100th anniversary of the first official Mother’s Day celebration in the United States.  The holiday was started by Anna Jarvis of Grafton, West Virginia who called for a day to honor all mothers.  In order to celebrate this time honored tradition, U.S. Cellular associates from the Roanoke business office and U.S. Cellular retail locations in the area organized a card making event at the local Boys and Girls Club on 9th Street in Roanoke.
