Saturday & Sunday, May 24th and 25th, 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Living history exhibits featuring Civil and Revolutionary War re-enactors who will camp on the grounds overnight and interact with visitors to the complex. The Museum, the Johnston House and the Dr.’s Office will be open for visitors and early crafts will be on display. Admission is free. |

Saturday, May 24th. Activities start at 10:00am with a Bicentennial Parade. At 5:00pm, there will be a kiddie parade followed by an Ice Cream Social at the Pearisburg Community Center. A Giles Band concert will start at 6:30pm at the Community Center. Come celebrate Pearisburg's 200th Birthday! |

Sunday, May 25th starting at 7:00am starting from the Newport Recreation Center. A challenging Century and a quad searing Double Metric (200 kilometers/ 125 miles). The Challenge Century (100 miles) has nearly 10,000 feet of climbing. The double metric has over 13,000 feet. Both routes end with the climb up to Mountain Lake, a five-kilometer category 1 climb, 11.9%. Limited to 500 riders. May 26th, 2008. Continuing a tradition established in 2004, the annual Memorial Day Celebration will be held in Narrows. The event includes a parade through Downtown Narrows starting at 3 PM, and an evening program at 6 PM, honoring the men and women of the military services, as well as police, fire, rescue and medical personnel from Southwest Virginia. The event is jointly sponsored by the Green and Gold Booster Club, the Narrows Police Department and the Narrows Fire Department, with special assistance provided by VFW Post #6000 and American Legion Post #68. |
